Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Dunkeld, Cairngorm National Park, and Loch Ness

Start your day in the charming highland village of Dunkeld, where you can wander around and take in the beauty of the village. Then head north to the Cairngorms National Park and explore the ancient pine forests of the Rothiemurchus estate. After lunch, enjoy panoramic views of Loch Ness as you travel down to the banks of the famous loch and the village of Dores, where you can try to spot the Loch Ness Monster. End your day on the shores of Loch Broom, where you’ll spend two nights in Ullapool.

Accommodation: Overnight in Ullapool (or Inverness)

Day 2 – The Far Northwest Highlands, Ardvreck Castle, and Assynt

Embark on a journey to explore the far northwest Highlands and the mountains of Assynt. Visit the 15th-century ruins of Ardvreck Castle, once the stronghold of the MacLeods of Assynt, and admire the stunning white sand beach at Achmelvich Bay. Learn about the area’s history as the first crofting area to be bought by the local crofters, the Assynt Crofters’ Trust, and enjoy picturesque views of the traditional fishing village of Lochinver. Spend the night in the picturesque fishing village of Ullapool.

Day 3 – Corrieshalloch Gorge, Loch Torridon, and Plockton

Experience the drama of the River Droma’s 60m plunge into the Corrieshalloch Gorge before traveling past the Beinn Eighe nature reserve mountains and along the picturesque coastline of Loch Torridon. Stop for lunch in Applecross and then take one of Scotland’s highest and most exhilarating roads, Bealach na Ba. In the afternoon, visit “tropical” Plockton, where palm trees grow alongside Loch Carron, and enjoy its sheltered serenity. Then head over the sea to Skye and the delightful harbor town of Portree.

Day 4 – The Scenery of the Isle of Skye

Experience the majestic landscapes of Skye on a flexible day tour, tailored to your interests, weather, and local events. Your driver-guide will take you on a unique route, either north to the Trotternish Ridge and beyond or back in time to learn about the legends and clan culture surrounding the 13th-century home of the Clan MacLeod, Dunvegan Castle. Spend the evening in the delightful town of Portree.

Accommodation: Overnight in Portree

Highlights: Cuillin Hills, Trotternish Peninsula, Neist Point, and Dunvegan Castle.

Day 5 – Eilean Donan Castle, Ben Nevis, Fort William, and Glencoe

Visit the famous Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland’s most photographed castles. Travel through the rugged mountains of Kintail and past Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, before stopping in Fort William for lunch. In the afternoon, explore the infamous Glencoe Valley, the site of the 1692 massacre of the Clan Macdonald. Begin your journey back to Edinburgh, passing through the stunning Rannoch Moor and Trossachs National Park.
